New FLL season

We are so excited to start our second season of FIRST LEGO League! The kids are excited too, and all of the members are returning.

Here is one of my favorite pictures from our November 2015 competition!

And what a great competition it was! We moved onto the championship!

The excitement didn't end there. At the Regional Championship in December 2015, we won the "Teamwork Award"! What a great end to our rookie year.

I can't wait to find out what is in store for us this season!

Welcome to our new blog!

We are FIRST Lego League (FLL) team 15950, the Webster Fellowship of the Brick. We are a brand new team from Webster, NY (a suburb of Rochester). I'm Laurie, one of the coaches.

Our team is starting from scratch as far as materials, registration costs, etc. You might notice that we have a Go Fund Me link on this page--we are in desperate need of funding (a small $10 donation will get you a team pin!). But we are excited about the journey we are about to embark on--fundraising and all!

Although our team is new, my husband and I are starting our fourth year coaching an FLL team. We spent the last three seasons coaching at our sons' elementary school. The problem? One of our boys is now at the middle school, and we found it to be CRAZY having two kids on two different FLL teams! So, we are starting our independent, home-based team so that both boys will be on the same team. In the spirit of FIRST, we have found some friends that are rookies and have never experienced FIRST Lego League before. We are hoping to inspire the team with a love for STEM learning!

I anticipate that this blog will be a way to share our journey of starting a new team. Perhaps it will be of some interest to family and friends. Maybe our future sponsors (I hope we find some!) will enjoy keeping up with the team. And just maybe, we will inspire someone else to consider starting an FLL team. No matter what, it will be an incredible journey!
